The Critical Role of Connectivity in Formula 1

In Formula 1, milliseconds can be the difference between winning and losing, and the journey to victory in Formula 1 is paved with data. From simulations to race day, AT&T’s advanced network technology, including fiber and Global VPN, transforms how Oracle Red Bull Racing collects, analyzes and utilizes data, ensuring peak performance from simulation to the finish line.

Enabled by AT&T’s technology, data flow supports 4 billion equations, consistently, reliably, for every F1 race globally.Data from over 250 sensors on the car is transmitted in near real-time from trackside locations around the globe to the Team at the factory in Milton Keynes, U.K., and then back to the to the pit wall, enabling split-second decisions that can lead to victory. Since AT&T joined forces with Oracle Red Bull Racing, the data volume has increased over 5X, further demonstrating the growing importance of connectivity. This precision minimizes errors and maximizes performance, making sure every decision is backed by accurate, near real-time information that is transported from the car to the team’s operations room.
