KIOXIA Corporation plans to launch the “EXCERIA PLUS G2 Portable SSD Series” as a new series of portable SSDs in late November [Note 1] . The EXCERIA PLUS G2 Portable SSD Series, which uses KIOXIA’s 3D flash memory “BiCS FLASH™” technology, features a smooth touch and a design that makes use of curves. The lightweight aluminum case weighs just 42g and is smaller than a credit card [Note 2] , making it easy to hold in your hand. It won the 2024 Good Design Award (sponsored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion).
While maintaining high shock resistance and a maximum capacity of 2TB that meets the US MIL Standard drop test certification standards [Note 3] , it is smaller and lighter than the conventional EXCERIA PLUS portable SSD series, and the metal case acts as a heat sink to effectively dissipate heat even in stressful environments such as reading and writing large amounts of data. In addition, this product continues to support the SSD Utility management software as with conventional products, and you can also utilize the password protection function that is useful for security measures. The password protection function complies with the TCG Opal 2.01 specification and protects confidential data with 256-bit AES hardware encryption function.
The USB Type-C® connector supports the USB 3.2 Gen2 interface , and with a maximum sequential read speed of 1,050MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 1,000MB/s , it enables high-speed transfer of 4K videos and high-resolution photos. The capacity lineup includes three types: 2TB, 1TB, and 500GB. Two cables, USB Type-C to A and Type-C to C, are included to ensure connectivity with the device being used .

is a high-performance portable SSD with a metal case. Although it is difficult to tell from the photograph, its most distinctive feature is that the top surface, on which the logo is printed, is concave. In product design, convex surfaces are used relatively often to secure space or increase strength, but it is extremely rare to use concave surfaces. However, by deliberately using a concave surface, it has succeeded in conveying the novelty of being an advanced, one-of-a-kind product while also making it easy to hold and grasp.
