Midwest Games and Magic Games Launch Award-Winning Bouncing Bullet Platformer ‘Duck Paradox’ on Steam

Midwest Games—an industry veteran-led publisher whose mission is to support and showcase abundant talent across the Midwest and underrepresented regions—has teamed up with developer Magic Games to launch Duck Paradox, an award-winning bouncing bullet precision platformer that is available on Steam and GOG today.

Navigate a corrupted multiverse on the hunt for Dr. Paraducks’ lost pet, and fight off the horrors of declining sanity

In Duck Paradox, players embark on an adventure through the fabric of space, time, and multiple dimensions. Step into the role of Dr. Paraducks, a sharp-witted scientist determined to find her missing pet duck, Quark, lost somewhere amidst the chaos of a malfunctioning time machine.

Equipped with a reliable ray gun and an unyielding quackitude, you’ll traverse three distinct treacherous worlds teeming with dangerous Quark imposters: find Krono Shards in the fundamental Lab Dimension, collect Disco shards in the flashy Disco Dimension, and Wash shards in the reality-bending Duckwash Dimension. Navigate tricky platforms and fire bouncing bullets at waves of enemy ducks. But beware — every missed shot ricochets, creating even more problems for Dr. Paraducks. Precision and timing are key as you dodge deadly obstacles and avoid pixelated pits of doom.

After each level, you’ll be presented with randomized upgrades, encouraging you to experiment with different builds in every run. If the going gets too tough, slow down time to catch your breath before solving more puzzles and overcoming barricades. Shield bubbles provide lifesaving protection, while carefully placed explosive traps take down ducky doppelgangers, giving you time to guide the real Quark to safety.

With over 50 levels that grow increasingly difficult, players will need to stay calm under pressure as they fight through hordes of enemies and fearsome, feathered bosses like El Alicanteronte, El Rey Patoteca, and El Pato Paradoja. If you want to duck around and find out, try the endless Survival mode or maddening Impossible Mode for an even greater challenge. In 1.0, speed runners will enjoy a new built-in timer which also tracks bonuses collected for pursuits of completion.

Duck Paradox is the debut project from Magic Games, a student team with members based in Fulda, Germany, Westfield, Indiana, and Guadalajara, Mexico. Beginning as a game jam project, the team loved the idea so much that they decided to release it as a commercial game. Midwest Games is proud to publish Magic Games’ first title in its continued mission to highlight developers from underrepresented regions.

Key features of Duck Paradox:

  • Corrupted Ducks: Battle seemingly endless waves of corrupted, evil versions of Dr. Paraducks’ pet duck.

  • Migrate Across Worlds: Now, over 50 increasingly difficult levels in three visually distinct worlds that challenge you to battle bosses, find your duck, and return back to the time machine.

  • Lock and Load: Gameplay offers unique challenges around precision platforming, strategic shooting, solving puzzles and earning upgrades.

  • Endurance Test: An endless Survival mode to test your skills through grueling rounds of bouncing bullets and big-beaked bosses. Bonus, if you can unlock the hidden Impossible Mode!

  • Mystery Loadout: Select between two randomized upgrades at the end of each level, experimenting with new builds with every reset.

Duck Paradox is available today on Windows PC via Steam and GOG.
