Gas prices are four cents lower in Western Pennsylvania this week at $3.374 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

Trend Analysis:
The national average for a gallon of gas has fallen a penny over the past week to $3.07. The current average is now less than a dime away from dipping below $3 for the first time since May of 2021. Today’s national average is 12 cents less than a month ago and 25 cents less than a year ago.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand rose from 8.82 million barrels per day last week to 9.38. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks fell from 211.3 million barrels to 206.8, while gasoline production increased last week, averaging 10.3 million barrels per day.
At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate rose 31 cents to settle at $68.43 a barrel. The EIA reports that crude oil inventories increased by 2.1 million barrels from the previous week. At 429.7 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 4% below the five-year average for this time of year.
