With Intel ® VPL, an original video footage’s motion and video data can be examined in PowerDirector by advanced AI algorithms. Gaps in the frames are detected and then new frames are intelligently created, enabling PowerDirector users to convert a low frame rate video to a high frame rate video without any visually distracting stuttering. For example, a 24/30 frames per second (fps) video can be quickly converted to a 120 fps video when the AI-powered video frame interpolation feature is selected – perfect for creating engaging, high-quality content.

Additionally, by utilizing Intel® Core Ultra Processors, users benefit from the ability to run AI-powered video frame interpolation on-device. The feature’s edge capabilities provide faster video frame interpolation without the need for cloud services and their associated costs.

Emphasizing the importance of this feature addition for AI video editing, CyberLink President, Vincent Lin stated, “CyberLink is committed to providing our users with the most advanced, and easy to use, video editing features available. As the first independent software vendor to integrate Intel ® VPL’s AI-powered video frame interpolation, PowerDirector unleashes a new level of frame rate conversion quality and content possibilities.”

“By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, Intel® and CyberLink are providing content creators with a tool that can transform ordinary footage into extraordinary interpolated video sequences with unparalleled smoothness and clarity,” stated Intel VP, AI SW Engineering, Sudhir Tonse.

AI-powered video frame interpolation is one of the many PowerDirector features that provide users with easy ways to create professional grade content utilizing AI.
