AAA: No Movement at the Pump in Western Pennsylvania

Gas prices are steady in Western Pennsylvania this week at $3.581 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.
Nationwide Trends:
The national average for a gallon of regular has increased two cents over the past week to $3.16. Even though this is the time of year when there are seasonal increases and rising demand, crude oil prices have been plunging. A couple of factors are at play: economic concerns and the decision by OPEC+ (the group of oil-producing countries) to increase output and add more oil to the market. The lower the oil price, the less drivers pay at the pump. Today’s national average is 10 cents less than a month ago and 49 cents less than a year ago.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased from 9.41 barrels per day last week to 9.09. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 229.5 million barrels to 225.5. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.5 million barrels per day.
At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate fell $2.21 to settle at $58.21 a barrel. The EIA reports that crude oil inventories decreased by 2.7 million barrels from the previous week. At 440.4 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 6% below the five-year average for this time of year.
The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same this past week at 34 cents.
