PENSACOLA, Fla. – Airman Ryan Geyer, a native of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, is serving in the U.S. Navy assigned to Aviation Rescue Swimmer School (ARSS) where the next generation of Aviation Rescue Swimmers (AIRRs) are taught to execute life-or-death rescues in the most extreme conditions imaginable.
Geyer is a 2020 graduate of Pine-Richland High School.
Geyer joined the Navy eight months ago. Today, Geyer serves as a student rescue swimmer.
“I felt a higher calling,” Geyer said. “The Navy lifestyle has always interested me.”
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Gibsonia.
“I learned to be respectful of others,” Geyer said. “I also learned to put others before yourself.”
