Update 1.5 “Phantom’s Nest” Now Live in Starship Troopers: Extermination

Attention, troopers! Offworld, in partnership with publisher Knights Peak, has released the next update on the Starship Troopers: Extermination roadmap. Patch 1.5, titled Phantom’s Nest, contains a powerful wave of new features, expanded game modes, and system improvements that once again raise the stakes in humanity’s war against the Bugs. On top of that, the developers are preparing more surprises for fans in update 1.6, which should be available in August of this year.

Key Features of Starship Troopers: Extermination Update 1.5 include:

  • Hive Hunt expanded to 16 players, now featuring the new “Escort the Nuke” mission objective.
  • Horde mode has been rebalanced, and wave progression is time-based, not tied to the number of Bugs you kill.
  • New weapon: Morita II, with an unlockable modification—an experimental plasma attachment that delivers high-impact, explosive firepower against Bugs.
  • New weapon Mods added for the Morita XXX and TW-2-R Sp.L.I.T Shotgun (Slug).
  • A major change to Galactic War mode, as well as bug fixes and quality of life improvements.

Later this summer, Offworld plans to release a major 1.6 update, which will introduce, among other things, a new Bug Spawning System designed to ensure intense, immersive action across every match. Update 1.6 will also introduce the first new game mode since Hive Hunt. Crafted to elevate existing game modes, the new experience will be a significant challenge for players. Squads will be deployed to Valaka and Agni Prime in pursuit of Archnigeon, a mysterious resource first discovered on Boreas. With the potential to change the course of war in the Federation’s favor, Archnigeon is now appearing in other systems, prompting an urgent race among players to secure it.

Inspired by the Starship Troopers movie, Starship Troopers: Extermination is an action-packed co-op FPS where players join the Deep Space Vanguard to fight non-stop Arachnid hordes across hostile planets. Developed by Offworld, the game launched in Early Access on May 17, 2023, with its full release on October 11, 2024, for PC via SteamEpic Games Store, and the Offworld shop, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
