Pittsburgh Annual 94.5 3WS Blood Drive Offers Gift Cards and Prizes

Vitalant is partnering with Pittsburgh’s official Christmas music station for the 9th annual 94.5 3WS Holiday Blood Drive, scheduled for Monday, Dec. 29, during a time when donations typically decline. Since its launch, the event has collected nearly 1,000 donations. Eligible donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment and help save lives this season.
Typically, fewer Vitalant donors give during the final two weeks of December than at any other time of year, but patients still rely on a steady blood supply every day. Donating now or in the weeks ahead helps ensure blood is available throughout the holidays and into the new year. Each donation has the potential to save more than one life.
Donate at the 9th Annual 94.5 3WS Holiday Blood Drive:
Date: Monday, Dec. 29
New Location: McCandless Corporate Center
Address: 5800 Corporate Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15237
Time: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Appointments are recommended. Schedule your appointment to give blood by visiting Vitalant.org/3WS or using blood drive code 100560200. Donors can also download the Vitalant app, visit Vitalant.org, or call 877-25-VITAL (84825).
“Blood donations help trauma patients, cancer patients and others facing serious medical conditions,” said Bob Keane, Vitalant executive director for Pittsburgh and Cleveland. “Pittsburgh is a community that shows up for one another, and this drive is a powerful example of that spirit.”
Donor Incentives
As a thank-you for donating, Vitalant is offering gifts and prize entries to all participants. Donors will receive:
- A $15 Donor Rewards gift card and mystery holiday gift*
- Entry for a chance to win a $20,000 prepaid gift card*
- Entry to win Journey concert tickets and $500 in holiday cash
Additionally, complimentary pizza from Caliente Pizza & Draft House will be provided to donors at the drive.
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion, making all blood types essential. Type O is the most widely used, with O-negative helping anyone in emergencies and O-positive supporting most patients. Platelets are also in high demand and must be donated frequently.
“One blood donation can turn fear into hope, strangers into family, and a single moment into a life saved,” said Johnny Hartwell, 3WS radio host. “Sign up, show up, and be the reason someone survives today.”
