The Office of the General Counsel provides various opportunities throughout the academic year for law students to serve as interns and externs at NASA Headquarters and each of the 10 field installations. Internships and Externships provide law students with opportunities for hands-on experience across a diverse range of practices. OGC generally supports litigation and transactional activities in the following practice areas: contracts/acquisitions law, commercial law (e.g., real estate, Space Act Agreements), intellectual property law, international and space law, and general law, which includes ethics.
Summer Legal Honors Internship Program: The OGC Summer Legal Honors Internship program is a highly competitive full-time program for highly qualified law students. This program typically runs for 10-weeks and interns typically work on a broad range of legal matters.

Legal Externships: OGC periodically provides unpaid, part-time and full-time externships for highly qualified law students during the law school academic year (for law school credit). Externships typically run for a quarter/semester depending on the student’s academic calendar.

We are not accepting applications for the Externship Program at this time. NASA OGC will be soliciting applications for Summer 2025 shortly.
