Akamai Puts Intelligent Edge Security On Display In Las Vegas At Black Hat USA 2018, DEF CON 26

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the world’s largest and most trusted cloud delivery platform, today announced that several of its cybersecurity experts will be presenting at the upcoming Black Hat USA 2018 and DEF CON 26 conferences in Las Vegas. These speaking sessions highlight the depth of technical and industry expertise among the Akamai security research team members.

In addition, Akamai will be exhibiting at booth #1639 at Black Hat where guests will be given the opportunity to participate in an interactive 3D experience where they can visualize edge security in action. Black Hat is taking place August 4-9, 2018 at Mandalay Bay, and DEF CON 26 is taking place at Caesar’s Palace August 9-12.

On Wednesday, August 8, Akamai’s Daniel Abeles, senior security researcher, and Moshe Zioni, director of threat research will present at Black Hat on “MQTT-PWN: Your IoT Swiss-Army Knife.” During this session, a full circle of attack scenarios using the tool will be demonstrated.

MQTT is a machine-to-machine connectivity protocol designed as an extremely lightweight publish/subscribe messaging transport and widely used by millions of IoT devices worldwide. MQTT-PWN intends to be a one-stop-shop for IoT Broker penetration-testing and security assessment operations, as it combines enumeration, supportive functions and exploitation modules while packing it all within command-line-interface with an easy-to-use and extensible shell-like environment.

This presentation will inform attendees how Akamai has spent the past four years working toward helping prevent a future Transport Layer Security (TLS) HeartBleed incident. This talk will dive into how engineers at Akamai deploy Intel SGX at scale in their network.
