SquareOne by Wizama, the Social Game Console for a New RPG Era!

Wizama, startup specializing in innovative gaming systems, unveils its new SquareOne: a social game console that reinvents RPG (Role-Playing Game). It merges core tabletop gaming with classical video game RPG through patented technologies. Featuring a full-surface touchscreen, multiple dice, and entirely customizable dice tower, cards and pawns that act as controllers, it enables both physical and digital interaction – which ultimately opens players to a full experience of RPG gameplay while preserving the  sense of traditional board games: fellowship and sharing. Wizama also announces a partnership with Paragon ID as a new supplier of playing cards. By partnering with Paragon ID, the leading provider of identification solutions for Transport, e-ID, Traceability, Brand Protection and Payment, Wizama is building a full ecosystem of connected game tools to give players an immersive gaming experience SquareOne brings to life one of the oldest games dating back to the 70s: role-play. Combining physical and digital content, it’s a one-of-a-kind interactive role-playing game console that reconciles two worlds. On the one hand, SquareOne preserves the interactive and inherently social experience of tabletop: it allows players to inhabit a customizable character, use cards developed with Paragon ID, pawns, dice, challenge and dialogue with other players. On the other hand, it enriches the experience through video effects, audio, and a rich digital ecosystem of games that open players to an immersive experience with multiple endings. For Franck Botta, CEO and co-founder of Wizama, “We aspire to become an alternative that gives new life to some tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons and allows digital RPG games publishers to target this large audience of game passionate that are, today, out of their reach. With SquareOne, RPG has been completely integrated into a new stand-alone social board game enhanced with powerful technology. It offers a multigenerational way to play, where everyone can interact, immerse, bond, compete, set challenges and explore exciting and powerful world of RPG. The partnership with Paragon ID makes this experience even more authentic”. Powerful Technology for a 360° Gaming Experience
SquareOne solves the issue of identifying objects and their positions: every accessory, dice-roll and movement are digitally recognized and displayed on the screen in real time. When placed on the console, cardboard tiles automatically launch the associated game. The physical figurines, cards and multiple RPG dice act as connected game controllers and interact with the console through wireless connectivity, to trigger video and audio effects. The console features the first patented dice tray that detects standard dice through optical technology. Optimized for up to 6 dice of 16mm, it automatically reads the dice score and up to 20 sides, even in dark environments. It takes the form of a dice tower specific to RPG which is completely customizable. The dice is passive, with no integrated battery. During a game, protagonists face world-beating odds to save the universe, meet other characters, fight gnarly monsters, gain new skills and abilities, and watch an epic story unfold with infinite endings and choices.  The console itself can become the Game Master. Games and universes can be accessed directly through the console and can be changed at any time. A catalogue of interactive games offers RPG games fitting the emerging hybrid gameplay, including fantasy, action adventure, mix-combat, puzzle-solving and turn-based tactical games. Wizama partners with leading publishers, videogame studios, boardgames authors and videogame schools such as Roberto Fraga, Ghislain Masson, Plug In Digital, Eode Studio, Atypique Studio, Duoku Games, INSA, e-artsup, and Enjmin-Les Gobelins to offer a variety of experiences and the guarantee the release of exciting novelties.A Realistic Console for All Ages… And Spaces!
SquareOne creates new ways of playing together not only for core gamers, but also parents, millennials, games bars and libraries. Classical RPG games requires space, keeping score and, in some cases, a large number of accessories. Without losing the typical RPG experience, SquareOne adapts to realistic spaces like European or American flats. Enhanced with artificial intelligence, it also adapts to the players’ age and knowledge: it reads the rulebook, provides interactive tutorials during the game, manages turns, counts points and keeps the score. Players can easily stop a game and start again in another room or at another time. It also features 32 languages and simultaneous translation. The console’s ecosystem and design can be entirely customized via the Wizama Lab to adapt to any game universe or IP.  Figurines, dice tower, cockpits, can also be entirely customized via the Wizama Lab. As the world leader in identifications solutions, Paragon ID, their new partner, enables Wizama to offer a wide choice of playing cards’ designs with unmatched reactivity during the game. Through this freedom of choices, SquareOne goes beyond a basic problem-solving console through an open world game with rich stories and strong elements of narrative control.Technical Features
