How To Create A Bedroom For The Modern Man
One of the best things about having a house to yourself is that you can allow your style to fill the place. However, when it comes to the bedroom, men tend to struggle to find a room that works for them. Here is our guide on how to create the ideal room for modern men.
Clean lines
Growing up, your mom probably had final say with who your room was decorated. This might have meant that it lacked that grownup vibe that you wanted. Not to worry. If you are looking for inspiration on what to do, Tylko’s guide to mid-century modern furniture is a great starting point to get the vibe of your room off to a good start.
Keep it clean
Those clean lines are best kept clean, as well as the floor and the furniture. Keeping your bedroom clean may not seem like the most exciting thing in the world but it is worth taking a little bit of time out of your day to give your home (not just your bedroom) a quick tidy. Keep your bed linens fresh, your floor clear of clothes and rubbish, and dishes go in the dishwasher. If you can, avoid having a bin in your bedroom as it will encourage you to leave rubbish in there.
No clutter
Having clutter sitting about can make anyone’s room feel messy so it is best to keep it to a minimum. Having a few items sitting around is not a bad thing such as your alarm clock and a lamp. But you don’t need a photo collection sitting around, or that collection of models that you made as a kid. They have a special place in your house and your heart but they should not be in the bedroom. Having a cluttered room is not good for anyone’s mental health so try and keep the stuff to a handful of pieces.
The bed
If there is one piece of furniture that is centre stage in a modern man’s room, it is the bed. One thing that you need to do above all others is make sure that it is big enough for you to lie in. Many tall men find it hard to stretch out properly without having to lie diagonally. Check out the different sizes of beds and see which one would fit your height the best. If you are a really tall person, you might need to look into custom beds with extra length so that you can lie comfortably.
Darker color scheme
Having a bedroom does not mean that you have to have it in 40 shades of grey. However, dark tones seem to work better in a man’s room. Deep navy with black furniture can all add a feeling of luxury to a room. And don’t be afraid of using deep reds and greens too. Just because it is a man’s room doesn’t not mean it has to lack any warmth. If you don’t know how this would work, check out Lucifer’s room from the Netflix show.
