the guitarwrist

Founded in 2017 by UK music industry executive, Ian Rendall, the guitarwrist is a not for profit, sustainability, and charity fund raising initiative which gets artists to donate their played strings, when they come to restring, and upcycles these into handmade items of jewelry with 100% of the profits going to the artist’s charity of choice

The guitarwrist has three main aims:

1) To reduce the estimated 700,000 kg/1,543,235 lbs. of guitar strings metal that ends up in landfill each year.

2) To raise awareness and funds for charities and worthy causes.

3) To give fans a great piece of memorabilia.

To date the guitarwrist has raised over £100,000 for over 50 charities and saved over 9,000 sets of strings from ending up in landfills. Within a short space of time over 275 musicians have joined the initiative including Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Stereophonics, Luke Combs, and Sam Fender, to name but a few. Many of the leading guitar strings companies including Ernie Ball, Rotosound Strings, GHSGibson, and others are partners with the guitarwrist
