LG Smart Appliances Help Home Chefs Automate Cooking Experience

LAS VEGASJan. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — LG Electronics (LG) is combining its industry-leading home appliance innovations and smart home connectivity with expanded partnerships featuring leading meal and recipe services to make U.S. consumers’ lives easier and more fun in the kitchen.  The company announced today that for 2018 LG will integrate Innit® and SideChef with its Wi-Fi connected kitchen appliances featuring LG SmartThinQ™ technology, providing home chefs of all skill levels a way to make daily meal preparation less complicated and time-consuming.

“With the industry’s most extensive range of Wi-Fi enabled appliances,* LG devices with SmartThinQ technology are delivering cutting-edge performance and convenience so life’s good in your kitchen,” said Chul Lee, senior vice president, new business center, LG Electronics. “Alliances with innovative services like Innit and SideChef are possible because LG offers a future-ready open platform that enables us to work with a wide range of leading partners to provide the best experiences to our customers, whether it comes from our own or from a partner’s solution.”

Innit’s and SideChef’s expert cooking programs will work seamlessly with LG connected ovens and ranges to help at-home chefs create the most delicious meals every day with step-by-step support – from selecting ingredients and video tutorials, to sending automatically a customized cooking program for your selected meal straight to your LG oven for perfect results on time, every time.

LG connected appliances with SmartThinQ technology are also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, offering consumers the convenience of voice commands to control their home and enjoy the benefits of a connected home experience. For example, users can use voice commands to check the time remaining during wash cycles on their washing machine, tell their LG refrigerator to make more ice, turn off their range after cooking, adjust thermostat settings on their LG air conditioner, and even check the air quality level in their home using their LG air purifier. Alternatively, users can control their LG smart appliances with a touch of the button through the LG SmartThinQ app.

Committed to its Open Partnership, Open Platform, and Open Connectivity smart home strategy, LG is building a smart ecosystem with an expansive connected appliance lineup that includes products for the kitchen, laundry room and throughout the home with air conditioners, vacuums, home entertainment devices and more. LG also announced earlier this week the creation of the ThinQ brand to identify its 2018 home appliances, consumer electronics and services that utilize artificial intelligence (AI).

Innit and SideChef will be available on LG SmartThinQ-enabled ovens and ranges later this year.

Visitors to CES® 2018 in Las Vegas and the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Orlando, Fla., this week can experience LG’s latest smart home offering, including live demonstrations of Innit and SideChef integrations.

Innit
Silicon Valley-based Innit is an “eating technology” company that has developed the world’s first Connected Food Platform. Realizing and leading the vision of the connected kitchen, Innit is a centralized hub that integrates a disjointed food system by focusing on the way individuals want to eat. Combining the strengths of its partners’ products and services with its platform, Innit provides a personalized, connected, and confidence-building consumer experience across the eating ritual. Innit will integrate with SmartThinQ by sending cooking instructions to connected LG ovens and ranges, ensuring delicious results with minimum stress.

SideChef
SideChef will bring over 5,000 recipes to LG consumers from more than 300 experts, including Michelin-starred chefs, celebrity culinary personalities, award-winning bloggers and more. Similar to Innit, SideChef will speak to LG SmartThinQ-enabled appliances to remotely preheat the devices and help chefs to manage cooking time.
