LG Air Conditioning Technologies Expands Smart Home Connectivity In 2018
CHICAGO, Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Driving home its commitment to future-ready open platforms for smart home innovations, LG Electronics USA Air Conditioning Technologies is leading the smart home conversations at the 2018 AHR Expo with a host of innovations that are compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for eligible Android and iOS smartphones.
With an extensive range of smart devices available, LG is offering consumers more ways to control their home and enjoy the benefits of a connected home experience, building on the cutting-edge connectivity and convenience and expanding the Google Assistant compatibility and functionality for LG smart appliances first launched this month at CES® 2018.
At AHR Expo, the world’s largest HVAC industry event, LG is showcasing multiple solutions for engineers, contractors, distributors and other trade professionals, supporting new smart products, technologies, and ideas across the entire industry.
Voice-enabled Control with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
LG smart appliance owners can now have the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa help them around the house with their connected LG appliances. For example, they can use simple voice commands from anywhere within range of the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa (or on their smartphone) to adjust thermostat settings on their LG air conditioner, check the time remaining during wash cycles on their washing machine, ask their LG refrigerator to make more ice, turn off their range after cooking, and even check the air quality level in their home using their LG air purifier.
Simple Set Up with One Centralized App: LG SmartThinQ™
Setup is simple and convenient with the free LG SmartThinQ app, available for Android and iOS. With just one app, users can control the entire lineup of LG smart appliances in their home. Whether it’s turning on your air conditioner, preheating the oven on the way home from work, or checking the remaining laundry time while at the gym, LG SmartThinQ brings consumers a new level of convenience.
LG makes it easy for consumers to connect and interact with its appliances because Wi-Fi is built into virtually all of its 2018 appliances. Committed to its “Open Partnership-Open Platform- Open Connectivity” strategy, LG is building a smart ecosystem with an expansive connected appliance lineup that includes products for the kitchen, laundry room and throughout the home with air conditioners, vacuums and more. In addition to Google and Amazon, LG’s Open Partnerships will include others to meet the needs and preferences of smart home adopters.
“LG is unique in that we have a broad range of products for consumers which makes it easy for homeowners to enjoy all the convenience of today’s connected home,” said Kevin McNamara, senior vice president, LG Air Conditioning Technologies. “Now that we have expanded our Wi-Fi capability to 13 more indoor units, nearly all of our indoor units, including ducted and duct-free models, are connected in the LG smart home ecosystem.”
