KICK to Launch Platform-Wide ‘Drops’ Feature with Rust as Inaugural Partner

KICK, the world’s fastest-growing livestreaming platform, has announced plans to launch its native Drops functionality, enabling game developers and creators to reward viewers with in-game items and exclusive virtual goods for watching live broadcasts. This new feature is designed to significantly enhance viewer engagement and provide a powerful new promotional tool for gaming partners.
Rust (developed by Facepunch Studios – the most popular survival game on Steam) will serve as the launch partner for KICK Drops. The collaboration marks the first instance of a major video game title integrating its in-game reward system directly with the KICK platform.
The inaugural KICK Drops PvP event for Rust starts with a bang on November 13th and runs through November 23rd, featuring a batch of brand-new skins and cosmetic items that players won’t be able to get anywhere else – including a limited-edition KICK themed Hazmat. Viewers will simply need to link their KICK account and Steam account to start earning Rust loot as they watch participating streams.
KICK and Facepunch Studios shared the exciting news at the DreamHack Atlanta gaming festival this afternoon with the help of top streamer xQc, who joined them on stage dressed in a KICK version of the iconic Rust hazmat suit.
“Drops marks a pivotal step in bridging gameplay and livestreaming on KICK—fueling a more interactive, rewarding, and connected experience for creators, brands, and audiences. This Rust drop is just the beginning,” shares Ryan Webb, Head of Operations at KICK.
Oli Tierney, Partnerships Lead at KICK, adds, “Facepunch Studios have been incredible collaborators, and we’re excited to introduce a streamer-led campaign that highlights the strength of creator-driven marketing backed by dedicated platform and developer partnership.”
“We’ve always loved how Drops connect our game, our creator community, and our players,” said Alistair McFarlane, Executive Producer on Rust and COO of Facepunch Studios. “Bringing this feature to KICK for the first time is a massive step, and we can’t wait to see players rocking these new and exclusive items for years to come. It’s time to raid with style!”
The Drops integration signals a new era for gaming content on KICK, reflecting the platform’s commitment to delivering a high-impact, high-value experience to its creator community of 75 million users and its partners in the video game industry.
For Game Publishers – KICK Drops offers a highly effective channel for launching new content, driving sales, and encouraging long-term player retention by distributing rare digital assets.
For Creators – Streamers on KICK can now offer tangible, exciting rewards to their audience, which helps to increase watch time, boost concurrent viewership, and build a more loyal community.
For Viewers – The KICK Drops system provides a seamless and rewarding experience, allowing viewers to claim exclusive Rust skins and items directly through the platform by linking their KICK and Steam accounts.
