Nightdive Presents New ‘System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster’ Multiplayer Trailer at Future Games Show Live

Today at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, Nightdive Studios shared a new multiplayer trailer for System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster — its modernization of the classic 1999 sci-fi horror action role-playing game, which releases on PC and consoles on June 26, 2025.

System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster features a fully revamped co-op multiplayer mode that vastly improves upon the 1999 original and Nightdive’s first System Shock 2 re-release from 2013. Returning fans and newcomers alike will now have access to cross-platform multiplayer between PC and consoles, with various other refinements, making this the definitive edition of System Shock 2 for fans and newcomers to enjoy.

The original System Shock 2 revolutionized storytelling, atmosphere, and gameplay in the medium, inspiring a generation of titles to follow. It completely reshaped the way gaming audiences viewed the potential for storytelling in first-person games and went on to win over a dozen awards and “Game of the Year” recognitions.

Set 42 years after the events of the first System Shock, antagonist SHODAN and her army of merciless mutants return to infest the starship Von Braun. Players embody a soldier who awakens from cryo-sleep with cybernetic implants grafted to his flesh. As he sets out to unravel the horrifying mystery of the derelict starship, he’ll need to hone his upgradable skills and utilize powerful weapons and paranormal psionic abilities to survive the monstrous creations of SHODAN — and endure her narcissistic god complex.
