Convenient charging regardless of the place – this is the goal that guided the European brand Green Cell when creating the latest charger for EVs. At CES 2022, the company presents a mobile charger called GC Mamba with electronics hidden into plugs. What are the functions of this device?
GC Mamba is an EV charger full of unusual solutions. The Green Cell R&D team decided to change the drivers’ approach to charging their vehicles and make the whole process pleasant from the user’s perspective.
Incredible charging convenience
The new Green Cell charger has miniaturized electronics placed in plugs on both sides of the cable. In this way, the designers eliminated the characteristic module (so-called ICCB) which is often located in the middle of the cable length. That is why many mobile chargers were not so comfortable. Green Cell decided to change that and prepared a very compact and easy-to-use device with an innovative design.
The LCD screen placed in the Type 2 plug and the mobile application connected with the device means that the essential information is always “at hand”. Charging takes place via an industrial socket (CEE 16A), so that GC Mamba can be used both in the home garage and on the go. The maximum power is 11 kW.
The manufacturer also cared about the high level of safety of its charger. The plugs are resistant to dust and water and are mechanically very durable – during the tests, the charger was run over by a 2-tonne car. Inside plugs there are systems responsible for innovative functions, but also security measures necessary for an EV charger (eg RCD).
Management from anywhere via the app
In combination with the GC Mamba software, it reaches its full potential. From the level of a dedicated application, you can get a current view of charging parameters, energy consumption, access to statistics, and the ability to change the power remotely and even start and end the charging session. Charging control is possible from anywhere thanks to communication via Bluetooth and GSM.
In addition, thanks to “push” notifications, users can be sure that nothing has disturbed the charging process. The application will be constantly expanded with new functionalities and offers a lot of possibilities in terms of supporting future Green Cell products.
GC Mamba will go on sale in 2022. Until then, the manufacturer intends to gradually reveal new features of the product and the associated application.
