INTERNATIONAL CES, January 7, 2014 – Korg (Suite 30-133 / Venetian Hotel) announces the DS-DAC AudioGate USB Audio Playback system. The system consists of Korg’s proprietary AudioGate 3 software, plus a choice of the DS-DAC-100 or DS-DAC-100m hardware interfaces. Both are USB digital-to-analog converters that will allow any Windows (ASIO) or Mac (Core Audio) user to play back their audio with the highest possible fidelity (DSD 2.8 MHz or 5.6 MHz). These interfaces are designed to provide enjoyment of high definition sound, whether on a home computer or on-the-go with a laptop, even in the most critical listening situations.
By using DS-DAC-100m or DS-DAC-100 (which includes both RCA and balanced XLR outputs) with Korg’s AudioGate 3 – the latest version of AudioGate audio playback and audio format conversion software – users can play back their existing audio from CDs, downloads or other sources, as high-quality DSD audio on their computer or laptop, resulting in audio playback that sounds better than before.
The benefit of audio conversion via AudioGate software is a purer end result: experiencing the audio as it was originally intended. The audio passes through without the hardware filtering or modulation present in other available D/A converters, thereby eliminating potential noise and distortion. Audio files will sound better because the converted, pure DSD stream bypasses potentially damaging processes in the audio path.
In addition to a 1/4” stereo headphone output, the stylish DS-DAC-100 provides convenient XLR and gold-plated RCA outputs for connecting to devices like power amplifiers. The DS-DAC-100m’s streamlined design and familiar 1/4″ stereo headphone output will make a perfect point of entry for those new to DSD audio.
Both the DS-DAC-100 and DS-DAC-100m support ASIO, WDM (Direct Sound, WASAPI) and Core Audio drivers. Installing the Korg USB Audio Device Driver will allow native 1-bit DSD playback on either Mac or PC. Supported audio input sample rates range from 44.1 to 192 kHz for PCM; both 2.8224 MHz and 5.6448 MHz are supported in the 1-bit DSD realm.
DS-DAC-100 and DS-DAC-100m users can download AudioGate 3 software from korg.com at no charge. A free lite version of the software will also be available for customers who are just getting started listening to DSD.
The Korg DS-DAC-100 & DS-DAC-100m will be available in spring 2014 for U.S. Street prices of $599.99 and $349.99 respectively.
