LAS VEGASJan. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — iQIYI Intelligence, a newcomer in China’s smart hardware industry, launched its latest VR HMD — the QIYU VR II –– at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 9-12vying for attention among top tech companies from around the world.

QIYU VR II set a global record — it’s the first and currently the only VR HMD in the world to support panoramic 8K (4320p, 7680 * 4320) video playback. The independently developed 8K Kiwi Player is able to recognize VR content in various code formats, and is able to play UHD content of up to 8K in resolution. When this 8K video image rendering technology unique to QIYU VR II is combined with the all-new upgraded 4K LCD fast-response screen, QIYU VR brings a totally new UHD video viewing experience as a “portable and personal 8K giant screen cinema.”

QIYU VR II offers a great variety of video content by leveraging on iQIYI’s TOP1 resource pool in China’s video industry. A Wi-Fi connection is all the user needs to access over 10,000 movies, 20,000 programs with panoramic content, as well as hundreds of 8K/4K videos customized for QIYU VR II. The user can use QIYU VR II to catch up on hot TV dramas like “Nirvana in Fire 2” or “My Huckleberry Friends,” and also enjoy blockbusters like Marvel Cinematic Universe in 8K/4K.

At the same time, QIYU VR II integrated the iMotion position and posture tracking device – a high-precision, low-cost device. By utilizing armbands, the traditional VR control handle can be directly upgraded from 3DOF to 6DOF. All the motion information of an arm can be captured in real-time, which presents the user with a richer VR interaction experience.6DOF interaction also offers additional entertainment for the user on top of viewing videos on the 8K giant screen. The user can operate many kinds of VR interactive games e.g. “Planet Dinosaur” or “Whac-A-Mole” while enjoying the experience that the 4K screen brings and the features that offer mobile VR gaming experiences. QIYU VR II has also included the 6DOF position-tracking Inside-out camera as an expansion component, an external add-on to the QIYU VR II that can be removed. It uses the algorithms of visual and inertia sensors and is able to detect head movement angles and information on mobile spatial positions without the need to set the external environment in advance. Walking is simulated in the virtual world the user has freedom of visual perspectives.

As the leader in the virtual reality industry in China, iQIYI Intelligence is showcasing iQIYI’s powerful technologies and content ecosystem again at CES 2018. Leaderships in various industries that were opened up with the help of QIYU VR II will undoubtedly lead a new trend in China’s VR market in 2018.
