Behind The Wheel: 2018 Ford Expedition Limited
When it comes to Crossover’s most people think bigger means tougher to drive and uncomfortable. But when it comes to the new redesigned 2018 Ford Expedition Limited thous thoughts are in the past. This 8 seater crossover is definitely more then enough for either big families or lots of toys.
The Expedition has a turbo charged V6 3.5L Eco-boost engine, which I even thought “wait what!?” but I was surprised at how well this engine tamed and handled the 5630lb crossover. With an average 14 Liters per 100KM it didn’t suck the gas out of the 94.6 Liter fuel tank. In this climate for gas prices here in Canada which average $1.36 per liter is a good thing.
Now once driving you are given all the comforts to keep your family happy on a road trip I took my family to Buffalo NY for a trip and it did not disappoint. My 3 year old loved the DVD entertainment system to watch some Paw Patrol on the way home which had wireless headphones for each screen and various inputs ie; HDMI and RCA but we used the DVD which only allows one disk for both units.
Then upfront we had 10 way power seats with AC/Heat also message which is nice on a long trip. Also upfront we had about 4 USB ports for all of our devices and then a 120v plug in the mid seats. The Expedition in total from what I found was 10 total USB ports which was awesome especially with today’s device driven world. We drove in some beautiful weather and able to enjoy it by using the panoramic sunroof. Ford did a great job with the redesign of the front end and took care of the issue where it looked a little too box like. But I did feel the rear of the Expedition was off for me. I don’t know if it was just the size or design but I still liked it.
The interior is based off the F150 design which fits perfectly, then you have the black leather interior with wood grain accents. The interior felt complete and cozy then when exiting the Expidition you get power running board which anyone under 5 foot 7 will be thankful of.
My thoughts, the Expedition is a great large crossover coming in at $85,000 for all the options of the Limited the XLT which is the base Expedition starts at $60,149. With the wood grain interior with leather and all the comfort options its a great buy. So I say if you need an upgrade then go-to your local Ford dealership and test drive one!
