NEW YORK, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — The driver shortage is still a perennial industry issue. It ranked as the top industry concern for the 2nd consecutive year in 2018 by the American Transportation Research Institute.

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) estimates that turnover can cost trucking companies as much as $5,000 per driver. If a company loses five drivers this year, they may spend as much as $25,000 to recruit and hire new drivers.

There are many great ways to retain drivers including performance incentives, making them feel valued, increasing pay, and giving them the tools they need to succeed. Safety and security are two of the most important tools fleet managers can give drivers.

A Culture Of Safety

According to the Transportation Research Institute at the University of Michigan, in over 80% of fatal large truck-passenger vehicle crashes, the car driver is at fault. However, commercial drivers are more likely to be blamed when cases go to court.

The MobileMule™ DVR Series helps keep drivers safe and protects your reputation as well as peace of mind. With a mobile DVR installed, not only will the driver be able to see all blind spots, all camera views will be recorded as well.  Investing in the MobileMule™ Series is investing in safety and investing in operators.

Conduct driver training on this important safety technology and be specific about safety benefits, how everything works, and how it interacts with the driver. Safety and respect go hand in hand.

The MobileMule™ Series

Here’s what to look for in a mobile DVR:

Recording Quality: Different models have different video quality recording capacities. Find a recording quality that fits your needs.

Storage Capability: Obviously the more storage, the better. Recorded footage overwrites old footage, so you want as much room as possible. Our G-sensor detects unusual movements, such as an accident, and saves them as protected event files.

GPS: With GPS capability, not only will the footage record, but the location of that footage will be stored as well.

Remote Access: This feature allows one to access recorded footage remotely or through built-in WiFi or even 4G.

Take a look at Rear View Safety’s MobileMule™ page to see our wide selection of Mobile DVR’s.

Rear View Safety has long been a leader in vehicle safety solutions. The commercial backup camera provider is also available on FacebookTwitterLinkedInInstagram, and maintains a Road Safety Resource site.
