McLaren Automotive, the creator of luxury high performance sportscars and supercars, reveals today its first bespoke luggage collection, designed exclusively for the McLaren GT by McLaren Special Operations. Developed together by McLaren Automotive’s design and engineering teams and Italian luggage specialist, the four-piece set maximises the McLaren GT’s capacious luggage space and includes made-to-measure storage solutions for golf clubs.

With the McLaren GT’s deep front boot and long rear luggage deck under the lift-up glass tailgate, the supercar of the Grand Touring world is not only McLaren’s most spacious and practical car, but also ranks amongst the most flexible and accommodating mid-engined two-seaters ever made.

The McLaren GT Luggage Set has been designed and developed to conform to the brand highest’s standards of engineering, quality and exclusivity. The set consists of four pieces, the garment case, the weekend bag, the cabin bag and the full-size golf bag.

The four pieces perfectly complete the McLaren GT’s elegance. Each bag in the collection is hand-assembled by specialists in Italy, using the same luxury, soft and supple semi-aniline leather and stitch pattern that adorns the interior of the McLaren GT. Three colours are available: Pioneer Black, Luxe Black and Luxe Porcelain. Stitching and piping colourways have been selected to match the GT’s two specification levels (Pioneer and Luxe), the GT launch colours of Namaka Blue, Burnished Copper and Veridian Green, in addition to the other colour specification options for the GT.

With each piece of luggage designed to fit a specific location in the car, two people are assured of ample secure storage for a range of lifestyle and sporting activities, as well as for luxurious long-distance travel. Its exceptional comfort, refinement and light cabin ambience seamlessly blends with authentic McLaren supercar performance and agility.

The luggage set was shown during Monterey Car Week, alongside a special McLaren GT by MSO that debuted on the Concept Car Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 18th. Designed to showcase the personalization options available through MSO for the McLaren GT, this example features an MSO Defined Flux Silver exterior paint color, with MSO Bespoke Satin Graphite exterior paint applied to the door skits, front splitter, wing mirrors, rear bumper and rear diffuser. The interior features striking MSO Bespoke Goeform Stitching throughout, elevating the cabin to further levels of luxury and sophistication.

Launched in 2010, the company is now the largest part of the McLaren Group.

The company has defined product families: Sports Series, Super Series, Ultimate Series and Motorsport which are retailed through over 80 retailers in more than 30 markets around the world.

McLaren is a pioneer that continuously pushes the boundaries. In 1981, it introduced lightweight and strong carbon fibre chassis into Formula 1 with the McLaren MP4/1. Then in 1993 it designed and built the McLaren F1 road car – the company has not built a car without a carbon fibre chassis since. As part of the Ultimate Series, McLaren was the first to deliver a hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™.

Announced at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018, the company’s Track25 business plan will see it invest £1.2billion in research and development to deliver 18 new cars or derivatives by the end of 2025.

In 2018, the company launched the 600LT and the first two cars of Track25, the McLaren Speedtail, the next Ultimate Series, and McLaren’s first ever Hyper-GT, and 720S Spider. It also opened a new £50m McLaren Composites Technology Centre in the Sheffield region in the North of England that will see it produce the next generation of lightweight carbon fibre ‘tubs’ that are at the heart of all McLaren cars.

2019 saw McLaren launch the 600LT Spider confirmed as the third car of Track25, with a new GT car announced and the previously-confirmed track-only Senna GTR unveiled.

To support the development, engineering and manufacture of its range of innovative sportscars and supercars, McLaren Automotive partners with world leading companies to provide specialist expertise, technology and solutions. These include Richard Mille, Pirelli, Dell Technologies, Ashurst, AkzoNobel and OnePlus.
