Atari Expands Localization of Pixel Ripped 1978, Introducing Support for Seven Additional Languages

Atari® — one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers — and award-winning Brazil-based VR developer ARVORE are delighted to announce that the immersive, retro-themed adventure game Pixel Ripped 1978 is now accessible to a global audience with comprehensive localization in eight languages.

Players worldwide can now enjoy the game, in its entirety, in eight regional languages: American English, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. The localizations include fully translated dialogues, in-game text, and user interfaces.

“We’re incredibly excited to make Pixel Ripped 1978 accessible and inclusive for more audiences,” said Ethan Stearns, VP of Games Publishing at Atari. “We strongly believe in the value of a localized gaming experience, and we are thrilled for players to feel truly immersed in the spectacular world that ARVORE has created.”

Praised for its creative dimension-hopping gameplay, Pixel Ripped 1978 invites players back to the golden age of video games, when Atari was just getting started in Sunnyvale, California. Players take on the role of Bug, an early Atari programmer who possesses the ability to teleport inside of the games she’s developing to fix “bugs” from the inside. Joined by her own main character creation, Dot, Bug will embark on an unforgettable journey through time and space to thwart the evil Lord Cyblin, who aims to erase Bug’s data and make himself the main character.

This multi-language localization of Pixel Ripped 1978 exemplifies Atari’s commitment to its diverse international player base. With this update, Atari is enriching the game for international players and setting a precedent for future game releases in its expansive roster of premium titles.

Pixel Ripped 1978 is now available on Steam VR, PS VR2, and Meta Quest 2. Learn more about the game at the official website.
