About Cradlewise:
Created by parents and for parents, Cradlewise is a baby technology company founded in
2018 by engineers Radhika and Bharath Patil to design nursery products that are smart,
intuitive, and delightful. Cradlewise was honored in Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech
awards for 2022 and won TIME’s Best Inventions Award in 2020 for their first product, a smart
bassinet and crib that senses stirring and automatically bounces to soothe baby back to sleep.
Inspired by their own kids, Radhika and Bharath believe parenting should be a joyful and
memorable experience, which is why they spent four years perfecting the cradle’s design with
an aim to provide parents and their whole family a more restful night. Cradlewise is backed by
a team of medical advisors, including Dr. Chitra Akileswaran, MD, MBA, and Dr. Anoop Rao,
MD, to provide safe and accurate resources for expecting parents. Dr. Chitra is a
board-certified OB-GYN who received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and
Dr. Anoop is a triple board-certified neonatologist at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at
Stanford.
Cradlewise is the only AI-enabled smart crib that learns the sleep patterns of each baby and
helps soothe them back to sleep before they cry. The company’s algorithms are regularly tuned
based on anonymized data across babies to best detect wake-ups, constantly improving for
smarter cry detection and parental alerts.
“Cradlewise technology is generating a major breakthrough: The largest multi-sensorial
anonymized baby sleep data set ever collected. We’re using this data to train models and
understand baby sleep accurately. Best of all, we’re collecting this sleep data safely and
securely, in a home setting, without the need for a wearable device,” says Radhika Patil, who
co-founded Cradlewise with her husband, Bharath Patil.
Responsive technology helps the cradle learn and adapt to a baby’s unique sleep patterns right
alongside their caregivers, fine-tuning when (and how) the cradle responds to sleep
disturbances. Most importantly, the cradle’s bounce mimics a parent’s instinctual soothing
movements.
Cradlewise uses contactless sensors to detect baby’s breath rate and movements. Unlike other
monitoring systems that require infants to wear an accessory, Cradlewise technology is
human-first. “We wanted to make it intuitive and seamless for parents to monitor their baby’s
sleep and well-being without intruding on the baby’s freedom of movement,” says Radhika.
Cradlewise has recorded 4.5M+ hours of sleep and helped many families get better sleep.
