Testing the Boundaries of Heresy: “Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy” Introduces Aeldari Corsair Laarthyr Cairnareth

Today, Owlcat Games has published a new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, introducing the self-sufficient and arrogant Aeldari Corsair Laarthyr Cairnareth. With his own path to follow, the new character is set to make a valuable addition to the player’s warband for those who want to risk being branded a radical for collaborating with xenos.

Laarthyr is an Anrathe, an Aeldari who was once bound to his Craftworld but abandoned rigid Asuryani tradition for freedom among the stars. But now he has left even that life behind, embarking alone on a mission that borders on the suicidal. Being a Way Seeker — an Aeldari psyker with the ability to navigate the Webway and guide his kin’s souls to the safety of the spirit stones — is both a blessing and a danger on his mission. It leads him to an Imperium world teeming with pathetic and narrow-minded mon-keigh, but teaming up with one of the Inquisition’s acolytes might be an arrangement that benefits both parties.

Laarthyr has valuable insights into the mysteries of the Warp, as well as the culture and psychology of xenos. In combat, he is a deadly close-quarters fighter who manipulates the warp to his advantage and hits his enemies’ weak points with his dual swords. He can also extend his insights and protection to his comrades-in-arms. All of these tools make him a valuable asset, especially if the acolyte dares recruit him at the risk of being branded a radical.

Fans can recruit Laarthyr in the current Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy closed beta, available to everyone who purchased one of the Founder’s packs on the website.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy will launch on Windows PC (SteamGOGEpic Games Store) and consoles (PlayStation 5Xbox Series X|S).
