Chaosium Launches Time Without Tide, an All-New Original Tabletop RPG of Mirth and Misery

Today, Chaosium Inc. launched the BackerKit campaign for Time Without Tide, an all-new original tabletop RPG. Created by Call of Cthulhu and RuneQuest writers David Naylor and James Coquillat, Time Without Tide introduces an entirely new game system and sends players into a strange, fog-shrouded world where exploration can uncover wonders, horrors, or something much harder to explain.

In Time Without Tide, players become Delvers, determined explorers who leave the safety of fortified walls and venture into the World of Fog. With lanterns held high against the mysterious Unknown, Delvers reclaim lost paths, uncover glimmering marvels, face bizarre horrors, and protect the strange survivors of a fallen moon.

The fog-shrouded, faux-Victorian, post-apocalyptic setting is dangerous, unpredictable, and not always what it seems. Players can use diplomacy, creativity, and character-driven roleplaying to navigate its mysteries, then turn to tactical combat when words are no longer enough.

An open, highly customizable character system gives players plenty of ways to build the Delver they want. Items, vehicles, companions, features, and strange adaptations can change how characters play, including fog-induced mutations that grant bizarre new powers.

Time Without Tide gives us the chance to explore a completely new world and a new way to play,” said Chaosium Vice President Michael O’Brien. “We wanted the World of Fog to feel dangerous, strange, and full of possibilities. Players can negotiate, improvise, fight, and shape their Delvers in wonderfully unexpected ways. We can’t wait to see what they create.”
