Today I am going to be discussing the new Pamu Z Pro headphones. I am a dedicated Apple product user but chose to give a new product a shot. In this review I will go over any and all details that I have noticed and found to be useful for all of you. Please feel free to email/comment with questions of anything I did not cover and I will happily edit or add in.

Unboxing

The start of every product is the unboxing and this is no different. The cover of the box boasts that these headphones offer Active Noise Cancellation, Dual Microphone Noise Cancellation, and Low Latency. These each are a great offering for any headphone set. Being born in 1990 when I hear noise cancelling I still think giant over the ear headphones that look like ear muffs. Today’s headphones have come quite far since then! Inside the box you are greeted with a matte black case, a charging cable, a cloth carrying case, instruction manual and extra ear pieces with different sizes. Pretty standard boxing, the headphones are very protected by foam padding and everything fitting in just right.

Appearance

I feel that this category is extremely important. When you buy something you usually do so because it looks cool, it has special brand name, or because it’s something you absolutely needed. I feel that this fits into two of the three categories. As I mentioned above, the case is matte black. This is something that all of other big name companies have failed on. The Apple Airpods case is always shiny white and scratches so easily. The Pamu Z1 Pro case being matte black is a blessing. It is very sleek looking, the lettering is extremely clean and bold and the entire case is one solid color aside from the lettering. It has a nice weight to it that is not very heavy but feels sturdy in the hands.

One you pull the headphones out of the case you can already tell they are good quality. They share the same matte black as the actual case. The charging ports on the bottom are a subtle gold and the logo is smooth on the headphone in a nice silver. The headphones are sleek and not oversized. They fit very well into the ear and remain in place even with running and jumping around. Overall very impressed with this section.

Sound Quality

Probably the most important part of a headphone review. As I mentioned, the box boasts having noise cancellation features. This feature must be enabled by you, it does not just turn on automatically. When you put the headphones in, they will immediately tell you they’re powered on and you can then pair them. Once this is done you are all set. I’ve played a very wide variety of music through these. Jazz, R&B, Rock, Country and even Dolphin Sounds just to cover all of my bases. The headphones sound great! They have a nice bass to them that doesn’t rattle your brain, the treble is crisp and clear. I did listen to music via Apple Music using regular music and Spatial Audio. There wasn’t a huge difference between the two unfortunately.

The ANC feature or noise cancellation is noticeable when you have it on or off. To turn it on, you have to press and hold the button on the right headphone while music is playing. This was listed in the instruction manual, which is only a few pages long, and you can tell when it is enabled. The downside is that you can only tell it is on by sound quality. There is no notification on your phone or the headphones to tell you. However, when it is enabled you will hear a different quality. You can still hear whats going on around you but it is much more muffled than regular listening. I would call this noise muffling instead of cancelling personally.

The microphone quality is very good as well. I made multiple phone calls to people and tested the quality. Nobody had any complaints of an echo or background noise. Unless I was doing dishes or making noise on purpose. I would happily use this for conference calls but not for podcasting. They were clear when I had someone else use them to call me as well.

Functionality

The features that come with these headphones are pretty standard with wireless headphones. You have a button on either side to click. Each click does a different task depending on how long or many times you click. One click on either side will pause or star the audio, or it will answer a phone call. Two clicks will either go back a track, on the left, or forward a track, on the right, or if a call is coming in it will deny the call. Now, if you press and hold the left side it will activate Siri on iPhone or you voice assistant. The right side will activate the ANC or noise cancelling feature. As I mentioned above, there is no way to tell if ANC is active other than listening to it. The only drawback to that feature. The buttons themselves are slightly difficult to double press. The single click is very easy but double clicking takes a little practice. The button doesn’t click very deep and you have to time it well for it to register. The headphones will make a click sound in your ear as well to let you know that you have activated or enabled a feature.

Additional Parts

Price will be the first topic here. Apple Airpods being closer to $200 makes them a bit out of reach for most people. The Pamu Z1 Pro is only $79 USD. This is substantially less and worth it for the quality you receive. The product does come from China so it may take a little time for shipping. Battery life is also a high point for these. They brag about 26 hours of battery life with ANC turned on. This includes 3 additional charges from the battery case. The case which is rechargeable with wireless charging or plug in. I didn’t personally get to test out all the battery life on them but I was able to use them for about 3 hours without a battery warning or them dying.

Conclusion

Overall, these headphones are quite good quality. They have an excellent sound quality and offer a decent noise cancellation feature. They are bluetooth and can be used as headphones for gaming on PC or Playstation, they are great for phone conversations or for listening to music during a work out. The buttons that allow you to operate them are a little touchy but aren’t a deal breaker. The battery life is exceptional and give you plenty of time to enjoy without having to plug in. They look great in your ears and in their case. They are also a great price for what they have to offer. An excellent substitute if you are looking for headphones for every day use. Excellent headphones and worth the price. I would recommend buying them if you are in the market for great and don’t need the brand name.
