INFINITI boldly illuminates vision for future design with QX Monograph

-INFINITI makes a provocative statement on the Concours awards ramp near the storied 18th green of the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance™ with the debut of a new concept vehicle. The striking QX Monograph marks a daring new era for INFINITI and provides an alluring vision of its future design language.

“We approach each INFINITI design from the perspective of an artwork, with the aim of evoking emotion and intrigue”Tweet this

Evolved design form

The QX Monograph dramatically heralds the evolution of INFINITI’s design language, characterized by a confident, athletic stance paired with grand, yet graceful proportions. It is seamlessly executed for a harmonious balance of form and function, while making an utterly distinct visual impact.

New signature elements contribute to the design of the QX Monograph, including an illuminated three-dimensional emblem at the front, representing the first application of INFINITI’s new logo on a vehicle; the progression of INFINITI’s double-arched radiator grille, inspired by the grandeur of a bamboo forest; and the latest interpretation of INFINITI’s “digital piano key” lighting.

“We approach each INFINITI design from the perspective of an artwork, with the aim of evoking emotion and intrigue,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president of global design. “The QX Monograph presented a sizable canvas for us to explore INFINITI’s artistry at maximum scale and create something bold.”

Powerful proportions

In sculpting the QX Monograph, the INFINITI design team drew inspiration from Japanese design philosophies to evolve its definition of modern Japanese luxury. These include “Ma,” the mastery of empty space; “Utsuroi,” representing seamless transitions; and “Kabuku,” which translates to “provocative and extraordinary.”

Guided by these principles, the INFINITI team aimed to create an exterior design that delivers standout style. The result is a powerful, yet sleek, profile and a minimalist exterior infused with evocative details. The QX Monograph’s exterior proportions, including its upright rear pillar and window glass, hint at a spacious interior.

For example, the long, straight hood carries through from the vehicle’s shoulder line and combines with a wide stance and large-profile wheels to create a striking visual statement. An anti-wedge profile further projects a sleek sense of motion, belying the QX Monograph’s size.

The QX Monograph body panels are simple at first glance, yet composed of complex shapes upon closer inspection.

Precisely crafted details

The QX Monograph’s minimalist body features details that blend INFINITI’s hallmark approach to craftsmanship with the subtle yet distinct influence of Japanese style. The vehicle exemplifies attention to detail in design, with highlights including:

The DRLs are connected through the grille, in a near horizontal line that accentuates not only the height of the QX Monograph front mask, but also gives prominence to the vehicle’s width.
