Take a Lesson in FEAR with “Amanda the Adventurer” on Nintendo Switch

Today, DreadXP released the super-duper charming yet horrifying Amanda the Adventurer on Nintendo Switch! Players will learn, laugh, and lament over the suffering which they’ll endure; yay!

Developed by MANGLEDmaw Games, Amanda the Adventurer is a found footage-style horror title that hides a sinister story beneath the colorful façade of the titular children’s cartoon. In this throwback to edutainment shows like Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer, players are cast as Riley Park, who inherits dear old Aunt Kate’s house following her death. As Riley begins digging through their reclusive aunt’s attic, they uncover a series of videotapes that depict two best buddies — the sadistic plucky Amanda the Adventurer and her cowardly yet loyal sidekick, Wooly the Sheep — on wacky adventures.

As Riley watches more and more episodes of the long-lost children’s show, a creeping, sickening feeling emerges that something is watching back. Riley soon realizes that Amanda and Wooly seem to be communicating directly through the old television set. A gnawing sense presses Riley to stop, but it’s almost as if Amanda needs something.

Amanda the Adventurer tasks players with solving a layered narrative, fully uncovered through clever puzzle-solving and a careful approach to connecting the dots between cartoon episodes. Players must closely examine episodes and interact with objects in the attic to trigger events and unravel Amanda’s dark secret. Repeat playthroughs unlock more of the story and additional secret tapes that dive deeper into the bizarre production of the cartoon, told through live-action cutscenes.
