Happy New Year! We are back with one of the most exciting reviews I have had the pleasure of completing. As you have heard via our podcast The DILFS Podcast, our Facebook and Instagram posts and word of mouth, my Wife and I are growing our family again by one more! You have also heard the update that Veer is releasing the Cruiser City XL which will be one of our next reviews! All of that shameless plugging and updating has brought me here to the exciting review of the Cruiser XL. We were able to review the Cruiser XL which is the larger, upgraded version that allows for up to 4 seats to be occupied.

Design

Veer is well know and renowned for his rugged capabilities and surprisingly smooth appearance. The designers of the Cruiser XL took so much care and time in putting their heart and soul into this product. The Cruiser XL was designed with outdoors, adventure, kids and simplicity in mind. Just like with all Veer products this wagon is so easy to clean all you need is a hose and good water pressure. Everything is sprayable to get all the dirt, grime, food, and other spills that happen off with a simple spray down.

The 4 seats that are located in the front and back of the wagon have a grippy material that keeps butts planted without the fear of sliding forward, back, left or right. This is an exceptionally beneficial feature when taking the Cruiser XL out and about on the trails, through the bumpy terrain or even just bouncing down the uneven sidewalks in your neighborhood. The grippy seats, coupled with the adjustable seatbelts for each seat keeps your precious child safe and secure during any adventure. The child snack and cup tray is included and clicks into the side frames to allow for stability and a secure storage. The tray is able to be stored on top of the wagon when it is fully folded closed as well.

As you can see from the side view, the Cruiser XL is designed with the smaller caster wheels for maneuverability. The large back wheels are built just like they look, RUGGED. They are designed for the open road and the back hills. The front has built in suspension that helps offer a smoother ride. The frame is a strong and lightweight robotically welded aluminum that has been tested for strength, durability and long lasting quality.

The handle is adjustable to extend in length up and down for the taller and shorter people who will operate this machine. The handle is also designed to move up and down to allow for you to push, pull or walk beside the wagon. The handle is able to go parallel with the ground to even let little ones help pull along the path when they want to. The cupholders attached to it also fit most size cups and rotate on the post for when the handle moves up or down to keep them ergonomically stable. At the base of the handle is a simple foot push button for the brake feature. One foot can engage or disengage the lock with ease.

The Cruiser XL is the larger of two models and still is able to fold up practically completely flat. My family has a 4 seater Wonderfold Wagon that takes up an incredible amount of space in our 3rd row Acadia. This makes it difficult when taking more than 2 kids on a trip. The Cruiser XL folds so flat that it can fit in the back compartment with the 3rd row seats up! The height set up is 23 inches and folded is all the way down to 14 inches! Folding the wagon is also so simple. There is a grip on both ends of the seats that folds them and the sides flat, the handle folds down on top to hold everything in place and you’re done.

I know the main question so many families have is how much does it weigh and how much does it hold. The Cruiser XL boasts a solid 55 lbs per seat, times 4 seats is a whopping 220 lbs! They also say that it can carry a whopping 250 lbs in strictly cargo weight. So if you were to load all the gear and items and snacks for your days adventure instead of the kids you can pack it completely full and then some. You would think that something that can carry this much would have to weigh a ton? Absolutely not! The Cruiser XL only weighs in at 36.7 lbs. This is basically a large toddler in terms of mass. I am personally able to pick it up and move it with one hand. My wife who is rather smaller than I am is also able to move and carry this. She is small but mighty as I like to remind her.

Pricing

The Cruiser XL is absolutely packed with quality, endurance, safety and functionality. The base model of the XL which is the 4 seater is available on Veer for only $799. This price is completely acceptable in my mind as it is not a simple purchase, it is an investment for you, your family and the future. The Cruiser XL is something that when purchased will last you a lifetime. Parts can be replaced overtime through wear and tear, memories are priceless and the adventures you will have are worth every penny.

Add Ons

As I said above, you get the child cupholder and snack tray, and 2 adult cup holders included. There is an extremely long list of items you can purchase to accessorize your Cruiser XL. I won’t name them all but a few that I think are worthy and will be in our future are a retractable canopy that is great for those overly sunny days. The Comfort Seat for Toddlers which gives them a little more padding and security for those extra bumpy roads. The Foldable Storage Basket which is quite large, hooks onto the front or rear (depending on how you look at the wagon) and can hold plenty of extra items to keep them off your back. Finally, the Switchback Adapter which allows for the Switchback seat to click into the cruiser easily and safely for the smaller babies who also want to go for a ride. We have used this on our Switchback +Bike system and it is FABULOUS!

Overall

If you’ve read the review then you shouldn’t even wonder how much I love this and all the Veer products. The Cruiser XL is the perfect transport device for your child, children, friend’s children or even anything you need for a nice hike through the mountains. Even if you’re not that adventurous, this is perfect for local parks, wild life areas, even the bumpy sidewalks in your neighborhood. It is designed with adventure in mind and getting your whole family out to see the world. The Cruiser XL is so comfortable that you can even sit and watch TV in it in the basement. This wagon is Pier family approved and will be in use for many years to come. Head over to Veer now and check this and the entire line up out.
