This capability is designed to accelerate investigations such as tracking a missing student, monitoring suspicious behavior, or coordinating emergency response.
Proactive AI-Powered Alerts
To help schools detect threats before they escalate, Verkada expanded its AI-Powered Alerts with two new capabilities:
- Activity Detection Alerts enable schools to distinguish between routine motion (like students walking along a sidewalk) and high-risk behaviors (like someone climbing a fence or detecting slip and falls). This ensures schools are alerted only when action is needed, particularly for perimeter protection where false alarms are common.
- K-12 Industry-Specific AI Alerts provide pre-configured notifications for the scenarios that matter most to schools, eliminating guesswork and helping administrators quickly identify the right alerts for their campus safety needs. Pre-built alerts – such as detecting a person with their face fully covered or identifying emergency services vehicles – enable school safety teams to focus on responding, not configuring.
Smarter, Auto-Transcribed Intercoms
Verkada also introduced new accessibility and communication features for its intercom platform:
- With Live Captions, calls on Verkada Desk Station and Pass App (iOS) are now automatically transcribed, with the ability to auto-detect and adjust to conversations in multiple languages, including Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, and more.
- With AI-Generated Messages, when staff cannot answer a call – whether during after-hours, emergencies, or lockdowns – administrators can instantly generate professional audio messages from typed text, ensuring callers receive timely information.
These AI-powered features allow schools to move from reactive monitoring to proactive safety management.
