Fosi Audio today announced the launch of the Merak CD Player, a compact, all-in-one digital transport, DAC, and headphone amplifier designed to bring new life to CD collections. Combining modern digital architecture with user-friendly features, Merak offers a versatile and high-performance solution for both casual listeners and dedicated HiFi enthusiasts.

Named after Beta Ursae Majoris (a guiding star historically used for navigation) the Merak CD Player is designed to serve as a reference point in personal audio, delivering precise imaging and an immersive listening experience.

At its core, Merak features a high-quality audio architecture built around a CS43131 DAC and TPA6120 amplifier, supporting playback up to 16-bit/96kHz. With a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 124dB and ultra-low distortion, the system delivers clean, detailed sound across headphones, amplifiers, and active speakers.

Engineered for reliability and performance, the Merak incorporates a professional-grade CD mechanism and servo system to ensure stable, accurate disc reading. Gapless playback enables uninterrupted listening for live recordings and classical works, while a transparent top-loading design showcases album artwork and minimizes disc wear.

Beyond traditional CD playback, Merak functions as a flexible digital hub. An optical output with a low-jitter clock allows it to operate as a dedicated digital transport when paired with an external DAC, while USB playback and one-touch CD ripping enable users to archive their music library in lossless WAV format.
