Fosi Audio has announced the upcoming launch of the MD3 MagDAC, a new portable DAC/AMP designed for listeners seeking high-quality wired audio wherever they go. Launching on various shopping platforms beginning May 25, the MD3 combines compact portability with elevated personal listening performance for music lovers, commuters, travelers, and everyday mobile users.
As interest in wired listening continues to grow alongside the resurgence of vinyl records, CDs, and dedicated hi-fi systems, the MD3 reflects a broader shift toward intentional, high-quality audio experiences. Designed to pair seamlessly with smartphones and portable devices, the MD3 offers listeners an easy way to upgrade their everyday listening setup without sacrificing convenience or mobility.
At the core of the MD3 is a flagship audio architecture featuring the ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chipset paired with four ESS ES9603 headphone amplifier chips in a true balanced circuit design. Tuned for both musicality and detail retrieval, the MD3 is engineered to deliver powerful, low-distortion playback in an ultra-compact form factor.
The device supports both 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced headphone outputs, offering up to 180mW of output power through the balanced connection. Fosi Audio also incorporated an aluminum shielding plate between the magnetic system and internal circuitry to reduce magnetic and electrical interference and preserve signal integrity.
Designed for modern portable listening, the MD3 features dual USB-C ports that support simultaneous playback and device charging, allowing users to maintain uninterrupted listening sessions throughout the day. A MagSafe-style magnetic back plate with integrated N52 magnets allows the unit to securely attach to compatible devices for streamlined portability.
The MD3 also introduces a highly interactive user experience uncommon in ultra-portable DAC/amps. A 1.28-inch LCD display with rotatable orientation provides easy access to settings and playback information, while users can upload custom images directly to the device for personalization. Physical button-based controls, including a dedicated “Ease Button,” allow for quick navigation and intuitive operation without relying entirely on touchscreen gestures or companion apps.
Precision CNC-machined from 6063 aluminum alloy and weighing only 20 grams, the MD3 combines durability with pocket-sized portability. Its sandblasted anodized finish, CNC-textured surface, and engraved branding reinforce the product’s premium industrial design approach.
Fosi Audio will showcase the MD3 publicly during CanJam Singapore 2026, taking place Saturday and Sunday, May 16–17 at the Pan Pacific Singapore. Attendees are invited to visit Booth E7 for hands-on demonstrations and listening sessions.
