Free League Reveals Two New The One Ring™ Expansions and Launches Unbound Digital Platform at Gen Con 2026

Today, Free League Publishing made three major announcements during its Gen Con 2026 Showcase: a new BackerKit campaign featuring two expansions and revised Core Rules for The One Ring™; the Early Access launch of Free League Unbound, a new first-party digital platform; and the worldwide release of Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying.

New The One Ring™ Expansions Explore Gondor, Rohan, and the Forces of the Enemy

Launching on BackerKit this September, Free League’s campaign for The One Ring™—the award-winning tabletop roleplaying game based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien—features two new expansions and revised Core Rules:

  • The White Tower and the Hall of Gold: A major campaign expansion exploring Gondor and Rohan, the last great realms of Men in the west of Middle-earth.

  • Creatures Strange and Foul: A bestiary filled with enemies from the shadows of the Third Age, including Black Númenórean spies, Haradrim champions, and ancient evils from forgotten ages.

  • Revised Core Rules: An updated edition of the award-winning game featuring new cover art by Antonio De Luca and clarified rules. The revised book remains fully compatible with previously released supplements and adventures.

Visit the campaign’s pre-launch page to learn more and reserve your pledge for just $1 to receive an exclusive dice bag for The One Ring™.

The two expansions will also be adapted for The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying, the 5E version of The One Ring™. They will be released under the titles Realms of the South and Of Orcs and Evil Things.

The campaign also includes limited Collector’s Editions featuring faux-leather covers with silver or gold foil detailing. Available exclusively through the campaign, these editions will not be reprinted.

During Early Access, players can test new features and share feedback that will help shape the platform. Character creation and progression tools are planned for later this year, with more Free League games joining the platform in the months ahead.
