Free League Opens Pre-Orders for Twilight Sword and Outgunned Superheroes Ahead of Physical Launch

Free League Publishing and partner Two Little Mice have opened pre-orders for two new tabletop RPGs launching in printed format later this fall: fantasy adventure Twilight Sword and cinematic superhero RPG Outgunned Superheroes, both of which will be available later this year.
Inspired by classic video games, including The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Quest, and Wonder Boy in Monster Land, as well as the animated films of Studio Ghibli, Twilight Sword sends players to the Lands of Radia as Champions chosen to fight an evil Scourge, push back Despair, and bring Hope back to the world.
Outgunned Superheroes brings the fast-paced action of Outgunned to the superhero genre. Players create powerful heroes and face villains whose plans can threaten their city, the world, or even the universe. The game can be played on its own or as a superhero-focused expansion for Outgunned.
Pre-orders placed through the Free League online store include immediate PDF access for both games ahead of their physical release.

Rise, Champion! More About Twilight Sword
In Twilight Sword, players awaken in an unfamiliar world where the Spirits have chosen them to become Champions. To save Radia, they must explore the land, fight the forces of the Scourge, and restore Hope to a world consumed by Despair.
The game uses an original system called CAT (Created at Twilight), built around a simple roll-under d12 mechanic. When faced with a challenge, players choose an Ability and roll a single d12. Rolling equal to or below that Ability succeeds, with 1 always a critical success and 12 always a critical failure.
Champions choose from five Kin and six Ways, which shape their abilities and approach to adventure. Players can combine up to two Ways, mixing different fighting styles and abilities to customize their character.
And yes, one of the playable Kin is a penguin.
Other features include:
- Hope and Despair mechanics tied to the struggle for Radia
- Simple travel and exploration rules
- Cooking and brewing
- Elemental powers and interactions

The Twilight Sword Core Rulebook includes the complete rules, five Kin, six Ways, feats, equipment, an introduction to Radia, and a collection of monsters and bosses.
The Twilight Sword lineup also includes:
- Lands of Radia expands the world with three new Kin, two Ways, travel tables, landmarks, NPCs, quest hooks, monsters, and unique bosses.
- Starter Set includes everything needed to start playing, with basic rules, the introductory Twilight Island mini-campaign, dice, pre-made Champions, cards, and tokens.
- Card Chest contains more than 250 cards featuring monsters, bosses, maps, weapons, Kin, feats, and spells.

Suit Up! More About Outgunned Superheroes
Outgunned Superheroes brings the cinematic action of Two Little Mice’s Outgunned series to the world of capes, powers, and supervillains.
Creating a hero is quick and simple. Players choose a Role and Trope to establish their character, then gain more customization options as they play.
The game uses Outgunned‘s Director’s Cut system. Players roll pools of six-sided dice and look for matching symbols rather than adding the results together, keeping the focus on fast, cinematic action.
Outgunned Superheroes includes all the basic rules needed to play, making it a fully standalone RPG. Players can also combine it with the Outgunned Core Rulebook for additional mechanics and options.
The lineup also includes:
- Outgunned Action Flicks – Volume 3 offers 10 new Action Flicks plus a bonus module, spanning killer robots, kaiju, time travel, supervillains, heroic animals, and more.
- Mission Dossier: King of Ashes is an introductory cinematic superhero campaign.
- Outgunned Superheroes Super Screen provides a four-panel reference screen for Gamemasters.
