Amazon Expands in Ohio with Monroe Fulfillment Center

SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sep. 18, 2017– Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced plans to open its fourth Ohio fulfillment center in Monroe, which will create more than 1,000 full-time positions. The company recently announced an upcoming fulfillment center in North Randall, and it currently operates fulfillment centers in Etna and Obetz. Additionally, there are more than 65,000 authors, sellers, and developers in Ohio growing their businesses and reaching new customers via Amazon products and services.

“We are excited to continue growing in Ohio, adding 1,000 new jobs to the more than 6,000 Amazonians already working in the state,” said Sanjay Shah, Amazon’s Vice President of North America Customer Fulfillment. “The support of local leaders and incredible workforce has been instrumental in our decision to locate the new fulfillment center in the state, and we are grateful for the support we’ve received to bring new jobs and investment to Ohio.”

Associates at the one-million-square-foot facility will pick, pack and ship larger customer items such as sports equipment, gardening tools, and pet food.

Amazon also offers regular full-time employees maternity and parental leave benefits and access to innovative programs like Career Choice, where it will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon.
