Death at the Mountain Top – Roguelike Adventure Game “Insurmountable” Reveals New Insights into its Atmosphere

Berlin-based developer ByteRockers’ Games premiered the launch trailer for its indie adventure roguelike game, Insurmountable

Insurmountable offers a unique experience in the roguelike genre, completely avoiding action-packed battles and instead focusing on the strategic decisions and tactical planning involved with mountain climbing. A single wrong move can be the difference between life and death.

The trailer offers new insights into the gameplay as well as the atmosphere in Insurmountable. Players have to manage resources, find optimal routes, and make tough decisions to reach the peaks of the impressive mountain environment. Death constantly pursues players: be it lack of oxygen or energy, the freezing wind, or attacking wild animals. With this multitude of dangers, Insurmountable poses crucial questions to the player that essentially influence the course of the game — each decision must be chosen wisely, because the wrong one can mean the end of the run. However, thanks to procedurally generated mountains, no climb is the same as the previous one. The dynamic and ever-changing weather, different terrain, and the day-night cycle means that new hazards lurk around every corner.

Insurmountable releases on April 29, 2021, for PC on Steam at a reduced price of €17.99 / $17.99 USD / £17.99. Starting May 6, Insurmountable will be available for purchase at the fixed price of €19.99 / $19.99 / £19.99. A console release for PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One (and Xbox Series X/S) will follow later. A console release for Nintendo Switch is being considered.

Insurmountable can be wishlisted on Steam at https://store.steampowered.com/app/1385100/Insurmountable.
