Core Keeper Unveils New Content Roadmap with Special Anniversary Update, Pets & More

Pugstorm is delighted to reveal a new roadmap of content for the hit mining sandbox adventure game Core Keeper, revealing a host of future updates and features coming to the game throughout 2023.

Starting next Wednesday, March 8, Core Keeper will celebrate its first year in Early Access with the launch of the free Anniversary Update, featuring new seasonal items such as birthday hats and a birthday cake that permanently increases the player’s health, plus a permanent new music sheet for indie favourite Terraria. By finding and equipping the music sheet, explorers can play a track from this fan-favourite game using fully-playable musical instruments.

Then, later in March, players will be able to download the free Cherry Blossom Festival Update, featuring new cherry trees and flowers to decorate your underground world, followed by an Easter Event in April introducing new seasonal outfits, decorative items and environmental effects.

Scheduled for release this spring, Core Keeper’s next major content update – the Animal Update (Final Name TBC) – will introduce pets for the very first time, allowing players to discover, adopt and take care of a variety of animals. Find the perfect pet and take them with you on your underground adventure. More details on the Animal Update will be revealed soon.

Later in the year, a further major content update – the Crystal Update (Final Name TBC) – will introduce a brand-new crystal-based biome for players to explore, featuring new locations, enemies, characters and a huge new boss, plus new materials, crafting options, equipment and more.

Pugstorm & Fireshine Games also confirmed plans of a future price increase for the game, scheduled for later this spring. For more details, visit Steam.

“We’re delighted to reveal our upcoming roadmap of content and announce the first details on our exciting Animal Update that we think players will love,” said Fredrik Präntare, Chief Executive Officer & Creative Director at Pugstorm. “We’ve been looking to introduce pets as a fun and meaningful mechanic to Core Keeper for a long time, and we’re excited to show them in action soon.

“As we approach one year in Early Access, we’d like to say an extra special thank you to all of our players for the incredible support they’ve shown us and the positive feedback the game has received,” Präntare continued. “Thanks to their support, we’ve been able to grow Core Keeper in ways we’d never thought possible. But this isn’t everything we have in store for the game, and we’re looking forward to revealing even more as we edge closer to a 1.0 release.”

Winner of ‘Best Social Game 2022’ at the TIGA Games Industry Awards, nominated for ‘Best Early Access Launch’ at the Golden Joystick Awards 2022, and with over 1 million units already sold, Core Keeper is a 1-8 player mining sandbox adventure set in an ancient cavern of creatures, treasures and trinkets. Mine relics and resources to build your base, craft new equipment and survive. Defeat giant monsters, discover hidden secrets, farm crops, go fishing, cook new recipes and explore a procedurally generated underground world to unravel the mystery of the ancient core.
