Motorola PIP12 Travel Baby Monitor

Traveling with a baby or small child in itself is a tedious and possibly overwhelming situation alone. Remembering to pack everything you need for the trip, enough clothes, bottles or cups, snacks and the list goes on. If you are like me then you have a a Motorola PIP1610 Video Monitor system in your baby’s room. The best monitor system I have ever used and you can see our review HERE for that. As much as I love that system we needed something we could take with us on trips and walks and everything else. That’s where the PIP12 came in handy. The PIP12 is a small, smaller than a cell phone, audio only baby monitor that also includes two way radios, battery backup, and so much more. Read on to learn all about the small but powerful PIP12.

Battery

Motorola boasts a solid 10 hours of battery life for both units. After multiple days of testing and trying we saw the 10 hour mark hit every single time. The parent unit does alert you prior to the battery going dead so it isn’t a surprise nor do you have to guess how long its been on for. If you would prefer to use an actual plug in that is also an option. The units can run on battery or wall power. This is great when you’re on a trip to relatives, going on a long walk, or spending the weekend in your best friends home. The battery life is great for the night or day and the option to plug in is very helpful.

Audio

Although this monitor lacks video features it makes up for it with the high quality HD sound. The sound quality between the two units is incredible. The audio is crisp, clear and has multiple volume settings for those loud or quiet times you need to be aware of what baby is doing. Even at different points in the house and out in the yard the range of 1500 feet was very well tested and always provided us clear sound no matter where we were.

Features

One of my favorite things about the PIP12 is the auto off feature that happens when you click the two monitors together. The Yin and Yang as they put it connect together magnetically and alert the device to shut off to save battery. The PIP12 also comes with a rain proof carrying bag that will hold all the pieces you need to use your device. The two way talking option is also incredible and clear. You can speak to your baby and hear them respond in complete HD quality sound. If you are bored you could even use these as a walkie talkie but I would recommend saving these for you and baby. The LED lights on the device are also great. If the parent monitor is set to mute an LED will flash with noise coming from the other unit. This is helpful for hard of hearing people or if you aren’t in a spot that noise is welcome.

Summary

Overall this device is built for travel, comfort and ease of use. The size is perfect to throw in an overnight bag, a diaper bag, a hoodie pocket or pretty much where ever you want. The battery will last you for most of your day if you need it and when you need longer the simple plug and play feature is easy to use. The sound quality is superb and will give you the best option for listening to your baby. The two way talk feature works perfectly and allows you to calm baby or even just whisper a sweet lullaby. If you are looking for a perfect travel monitor this is the one for you. You can find it HERE for the price of $69.99.
