Fight, Die, and Get Famous: A New GodsTV Demo Is Now Available on Steam

Today, developer Melbot launched a new public demo for GodsTV on Steam.

Inspired by the energy of ’90s arcade classics, GodsTV is a chaotic action roguelite drenched in humor, fame-lust, and chaos. The Gods of Capitalypse feed off ratings, demanding blood, laughs, and drama in exchange for heavenly upgrades. To survive their show, players must enter the arena as a Contender, battle hordes of enemies, attract fans, and build the ultimate source of power: Fame.

The more famous a Contender becomes, the stronger the powers the Gods grant them. Players will die along the way—probably often—but every run brings new weapons, abilities, Signature Moves, and opportunities to climb the charts.

The grand prize? Godhood.

The demo features around two hours of single-player gameplay across four levels. Players can take the stage as two larger-than-life Contenders, each with their own combat style, personality, and story:

  • Kinni, the Stripper Berserker
    • Once a megastar, Kinni has endured a string of failed comebacks. His latest persona is his last shot at relevance. Armed with a Heavy Melee combat style, he sees GodsTV as his last chance to make his final mark.

  • Leetah, the Lethal Popstar
    • Raised to be a popstar, Leetah is still trying to stand out and find her breakthrough. She uses her Elegant Precision combat style to strike with grace and deadly accuracy.

The script comes from the team behind Helluva Boss, while Brandon Rogers, the voice of Blitzø, leads the voice cast as the game’s not-so-trustworthy talent agent. Looking ahead, the full 1.0 release is planned to expand the roster to four Contenders, adding Pepperishi, the Pizza Shaman, and V1KTU$ M4X, the Totalitarian Tinker.

Each run gives players new products to shape their build. In the world of GodsTV, everything is sponcon, from weapons and Signature Moves to upgrades and even Godskins. The more Fame players earn, the better the endorsements they can land, bringing them one step closer to Godhood.

Win or die, it’s back to Backstage. Between shows, players can sign new sponsors, upgrade their builds, and decide what kind of Star they want to become. Make rivals, make friends, pursue romance, and navigate a darkly comedic world blending reality television, influencer culture, show business, and cosmic horror.

Key Features

  • Fight for Fame: Each run is a new show and a chance to earn Fame, GodsTV’s version of XP. The more Fame players earn, the more likely they are to attract new sponsors and even secure deals with the Gods.

  • Choose Your Contender: Take the stage as Leetah or Kinni, each with their own combat style, personality, and story. More Contenders will join the roster throughout Early Access.

  • Build Your Brand, Build Your Fighter: Grow your fanbase to attract new sponsors, then combine weapons, powers, Signature Moves, and upgrades to shape your build.

  • Sign Deals with the Gods: Win the favor of the Gods of Capitalypse, fame-hungry cosmic beings driven by greed and profit. Their deals can unlock powerful Godskins, abilities, and weapons, but every favor comes with strings attached.

  • Backstage Mayhem: Between battles, explore a zany behind-the-scenes world filled with eccentric characters, rivalries, romances, shady contracts, and decisions your mother definitely would not approve of.

  • Push Your Luck: Reach the end of a loop and cash out your rewards, or keep fighting as the enemies grow stronger and the stakes rise. Unlock new weapons, challenges, Godskins, and story developments that carry into future runs.
