AAA: Gas Prices Jump in PA

Gas prices are 10 cents higher in Western Pennsylvania this week at $3.469 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.
Nationwide Trends:
Gas prices have been falling over the last few weeks, but as summer winds down, the national average has gone up three cents over the past week to $3.16. Crude prices are still comparatively low, so that factor is stalling any major increases at the pump. Today’s national average is the same as a month ago and 19 cents less than a year ago.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased from 9 million barrels per day last week to 8.84 million. Total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 226.3 million barrels to 223.6. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.6 million barrels per day.
At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate rose 86 cents to settle at $63.21 a barrel. The EIA reports crude oil inventories decreased by 6 million barrels from the previous week. At 420.7 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 6% below the five-year average for this time of year.
The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stayed the same this past week at 36 cents.
