IRVINE, Calif.Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Southern California-based Karma Automotive will showcase how BlackBerry’s QNX technology is used to safeguard its Revero luxury electric vehicle and hint at additional security and management systems that could be incorporated into future products during the automaker’s first appearance at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

“Karma’s business and product plan is driven in part by collaborating with partners like BlackBerry whose expertise help us accelerate product development and differentiation,” said Karma CEO Dr. Lance Zhou. “Karma was among BlackBerry’s first automotive partners for cybersecurity management, and we’re looking forward to showcasing how we use the technology to enhance Revero. We’ll also have some proof-of-concepts using futuristic technology that may ultimately become part of the Karma experience.”

BlackBerry QNX technology is embedded in 120 million cars on the road today, including Revero, the world’s most exclusive grand touring luxury electric vehicle that’s as visually dynamic as it is exhilarating to drive. BlackBerry QNX powers the Karma Revero Infotainment and Digital Instrument Cluster. With the power of BlackBerry QNX, Karma is at the forefront of Firmware Over-the-Air updates and how it manages cybersecurity by leveraging encryption via BlackBerry Certicom. Karma also uses QNX Acoustics and other BlackBerry technologies for Active Noise Reduction and Echo Cancellation and other product enhancements.

Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association, CES 2019 occurs January 8-11, 2019. The annual event draws more than 180,000 attendees and is considered the world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies.
